Why do I love my Job?

Frankly, I am really having a stressful work life for the past couple of weeks. From the day my Senior (for almost 2 years) transferred to another stream, followed by my partner’s (for almost 3 year) resignation, my work life was just so insane. New roles and responsibilities automatically assigned to me at the time when issues, trade volume and incidents were starting to pile up. With this, my eating time started to be abnormal (no proper lunch or no lunch even and water intake) as well as my sleeping hours decreased (5 hrs max). Little did I know my health slowly began to be at risk.

I was seriously at the verge of quitting last week. I was already thinking of other options once the process stabilized if ever I leave. My parents are getting a bit worried of my current lifestyle that they even started asking and suggesting me to go back to the local industry. More so, they wanted my “normal” work schedule back because all our trips/events/gatherings are always dependent on my current work schedule (w/c 90% always contradicts to their free schedules). This set-up sort of adds up to my frustrations every time I can’t join them just because I had to work.

Then came this one Team huddle this week wherein we had one of the big bosses as our guest speaker.

She was told to give us an inspirational talk.

Surprisingly, she succeeded. Well, for me, that is.

I got inspired. Her words brought back the light to me. That more or less 15 minutes talk turned all my negativity around.

She challenged each and every one of us to think of all the things (no matter how small it is) that would make you proudly say, “I LOVE MY JOB” and stick to it.

And now it kept me thinking, “Why do I love my job?

Let me count the reasons why,

I love my job because it gives me enough funds and savings to fulfil my other dreams (enrol to a culinary school, travel to my dream destinations and buy myself gadgets and clothes and shoes).
I love my job because I can surf and use the net all day provided that I won’t breach any of my tasks.
I love my job because it is in there that made me realize that I can mingle and talk to people from all sides of the globe (Australia, London, New York, SG, India, Etc.).
I love my job because it literally (in all corners and edges) stretches me out of my comfort zone.
I love my job because it is not boring. We encounter different issues to be resolved and breaks to be investigated making each day exciting and challenging as possible.
And lastly, I love my job because I belong to a team whom I not only consider as my mentors and colleagues but more on as my friends who keep me sane at my most stressful work points.

I guess this is what we call “Passion to Perform.”
